CWS Podcast – Ep. 6: Stock Vs Custom Photography

cws_podcastWhen you think about what makes a website look good, fonts, text, and colors are probably not the first things that come to mind. Photographs and images are extremely important and require careful attention. In this episode I will delve into the differences of stock vs custom photography, and some tips on when to use each.

This episode touches on my previous article “Effective Site Imagery“. The topics covered are pretty simple:

  • Stock Photography: Definition, pros, cons, and suggested usage
  • Custom photography: Definition, pros, cons, and suggested usage

Action Item: Examine the various website areas and page templates that lend themselves to photographs. See what kinds of photos you have where and create consistency among them. Then if need be, have a photographer from your congregation step in and take some snapshots. If you don’t have a photographer, consider reaching out to a local community college or university with an art program. There are bound to be some college kids interested in some freelance work; and who knows… you just might give them a much-needed window into what a Christ-centered life can be.
