We consider many things in life necessary to survival. In our culture, a car is often considered essential to living life. Yet if you live in a city such as New York where there is a significant infrastructure of subways and busses, cars are almost seen as a burden. So with the availability of web properties in social media; why even have a website?

Action Item: If you are just starting out, create a list of criteria you should reach before starting on the journey of having your own website. If you are an existing site, perhaps you can scale back the size of your site and move that content to a social media outlet; allowing for easier updates. Either way, consider how to leverage social media outlets to either serve as your web presence, or to enhance your website as a distribution network.
