CWS Podcast – Ep. 14: Merging Church Strategy with Website Strategy

cws_podcastThis episode is a crash course in creating a website strategy; however I am going out of my comfort zone and am asking that it merges with your overall church strategy. Afterall, your website is a tool that supports your church, not the other way around. Thus the first order of business is determining what your church goals are; then how your website can support them. While I am no pastor or church strategist, I do know common church goals and have plenty of professional experience in tying business goals to website features.

Topics covered in this podcast include:

  • Determining church goals
  • Connecting them to website goals
  • Getting detailed with your page goals

Action Item: If you have not already created a 1, 3, and 5-year plan for your church; go ahead and do so first. Then examine it to see how your website can change quickly to meet the 1-year plan, but slowly evolve to meet the longer-term goals. Craft interactions and paths on your site that cater to specific personas and demographics you wish to reach. Lastly, have site and page goals that lead those demographics to accomplish the various things that will enable your goal to succeed. Lastly, tie in the previous 4 episodes and assign analytics measurements to those CTA’s to see how effective your site and pages are.
